Khamsin refers to a hot, dry and dusty south or south-east wind occurring in N. Africa, around the E Mediterranean and the Arabian Peninsula intermittently in late winter and early summer. This can be an approaching wall of a blinding sandstorm that can last for days or weeks. The scene begins in a tranquil N African village with a peaceful, star filled evening sky. Then things change as the storm gets closer, soon the listener is surrounded by the increasing roar of the winds and lashing sand that seem to keep growing into a whirling dervish and then, without warning, the turbulent hot winds are replaced by a peaceful calm. The end.
