In 2019, Big Blue World returned to Jeff Chitouras’ undertheradar studio in Lexington, Massachusetts to explore some new ideas. Jeff wanted to capture the band the way it used to be done – live, a single take, everyone in the same room, no extensive studio trickery. and he had one simple instruction:

“Don’t think, guys. Just play.”

After sifting through the results, Jeff noted his favorite takes, found common (and some un-common) threads, and stitched it all together. Fully composed songs, improvised passages and spontaneous jams, soundscapes and moody atmospheres, even some spoken bits and general band mayhem, it’s all in there.

The resulting piece, Believe, includes precious few overdubs (mostly vocals and the odd keyboard or percussion texture). all the missed notes, dropped beats and other human elements typically sanitized for a “proper” recording have purposely been left intact...the intent to accurately recreate what it was like sitting in the room.

In addition to Believe’s “singles” within the full compilation, you’ll find some bonus tracks as well.

This recording also comes after a difficult year for our (still) very big, very blue world. The future is happening, right now. and it’s time to believe again. In ourselves, in each other.
